Transcript Timothy Brantley II (son of Dr B) Part2
0 (1s):
Welcome to real raw with dr. B, this nationally published author and pastor has made it his life’s work to helping people strengthen their relationship with God themselves and each other with 25 years as a licensed counselor, coupled with his own life experiences with the ups and downs of married and single life. It’s like having a counseling session right in your own home. So without any further ado, it’s time for real roar with dr. B Oh ma
1 (35s):
Goodness. <inaudible> a high demand. Low demand had the medicine. I am dr. B and this is my only biological son. I ain’t got no more sons out there. I have lot of spiritual sons, but my only biological son, I begin a new one. Remember the turning. Oh, okay.
1 (1m 5s):
So I am getting married. This is just helping them talking to know I’m getting married. This, this is how you are to your stepmom. A woman named Portia go around. You’ve seen her on the broadcast and I can’t wait to become one with her. And she has a son named Tony Fox. Jr. They call him no, he’s a third. I think he’s the third. You sure? I was like, alright, but no, I ain’t got no more children, but you and Jonathan and I’m planning to have no more.
1 (1m 44s):
Okay. Portion. I have that discussion already. We ain’t having no more. So. So you will also pass his kid. Yup. So what was the bad part about being a pastor kid? You know, I’ll go first. I’m a pastor’s kid too. Okay. Alright. So the part of bar passcode, I didn’t like was that, and he probably did the same thing, a disciplined time of dad. My father never came any my football games and it was like, I was there probably wasn’t there.
1 (2m 18s):
I played the drums with my father, tried to play the organ. It didn’t didn’t work out too well. <inaudible> my daughter, his sister Johnson, Raquel Brantley. You can get her on Facebook. She sings. She plays the organ. I think she’s a poet too. She does a lot. She does a lot of things. And so those are some of the things I didn’t like as a, as a passive kid. So your turn, just showing up to church every day.
1 (2m 49s):
You just want to sleep, like, come on, like it’s Sunday four o’clock. I want to go to sleep. We, we, we drug you to church every single time church, the doors open. And you know, one thing you said, and, and, and those who were pastors, listen to us, please hear me loud and clear. One thing my son said that was very powerful that I wish I would have did. Is that he said, dad, can’t we miss a Sunday?
2 (3m 21s):
Yeah. I said it all. Let me try see here. Yeah.
1 (3m 25s):
And I could not do that because again, I learned from my father, the importance of always being in church and stuff like that. And so in actuality, that was a very bad decision because I didn’t grow our relationship. Our relationship was mainly in church. And you also would the sound board for a while.
2 (3m 47s):
Yup. So I made the videos. You made the video for that correction and you did it. It was like a small little three D animation I hadn’t made. Yeah. I still have it. Yeah. It’s so old, man. I’m like thinking about like, damn I could have did so much of a better job on it. But,
1 (4m 6s):
But again, you know, even though I could have, I know I could have done a much better job. I’m just happy where we are right now. The place in our life right now. Yeah.
2 (4m 18s):
And how have you grown is, is smart. Intelligent go looking at me, man. Thanks brother is trying now.
1 (4m 26s):
So tell me what are some of the challenges for a 30 year old man out here in, in the world? Since I’m taking ladies, I’m taking Jack.
2 (4m 36s):
Sorry. He’s taken.
1 (4m 41s):
So what are some of the challenges for a young black man in 2020,
2 (4m 45s):
In 2020? Well, honestly it’s the, COVID the COVID it’s the big one. And like this whole election coming up.
1 (4m 53s):
COVID all right. So what’s, COVID doing for you.
2 (4m 56s):
I mean, truthfully, we gotta like stay inside. It’s hard to meet people and all that other stuff. Yeah. Pardon me, harming young ladies out there did a shirt. Like, you know, cause everyone’s inside, you can’t really go out that much. And then the other thing that’s a really big deal is this election season that’s actually coming up. It’s going to be like one of the most heated, especially since we know Russia is going to cheat and like all that other stuff with Donald.
1 (5m 24s):
So as a young person, how does that make you feel,
2 (5m 26s):
Feel about your future? I mean, is it
1 (5m 28s):
Bleed? Does it make it scary?
2 (5m 32s):
The fact that we have four years of this fool, is there no, you voted. Yeah. I still can’t even believe that he got away with what he got away with. I mean, the thing that gets me every time, like I know we’re talking about, I forget what everyone’s focused on. Cause there’s something that he said this week watch, but like on the COVID, but one of the things that really got me is some of you don’t remember, he went against what’s his name? That he was the war hero.
2 (6m 5s):
Oh yeah. I forgot his name. Yeah. He said like he much rather have it
1 (6m 10s):
Veterans not captured. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. Exactly, exactly. Right. I’ll I’ll I’ll I’ll as soon as the dive from Arizona. Yeah.
2 (6m 17s):
Yeah. He died once again, McCain again, like what? The good old jeopardy together y’all it’s like yo right. We all know like most people know I’m a Democrat liberal Democrat, but I would have never said that to McCain. Even though that he ran against like a democratic opponent, I have like respect for the guy. Right. You can’t even take away his service. It doesn’t matter what, like liberal, what, what your political background is. You have to respect the fact that he served our country and he was a prisoner of war and he didn’t snitch and tell on us, like have respectful.
2 (6m 54s):
I have the utmost respect for people that do.
1 (6m 57s):
But the thing about it though, is that as a young person, does it still wants you to be involved with a voting or does it want you to like, just give up and don’t worry about it.
2 (7m 6s):
It means that I have to be more active and do more stuff. Cause you know, my goal is to really give back if I ever amass any sort of like, you know, wealth, I hope to give back in a meaningful, meaningful way. Right,
1 (7m 21s):
Right. Right. Well, you know what you know, with all these hurdles, COVID-19, you know, the election, I think for you as a young person is just to hold onto your dreams and, and no matter what comes your way, hell or high water is that, you know, you turn bright or the second is going to reach your dreams. Now, other now, now like I always told you one tagline, I gave my son. I said, success is the best revenge.
1 (7m 53s):
It is. It truly is because when people have put you down and didn’t encourage you and you look the election, you look at COVID-19, I mean, survival, you surviving that, all of this shows, your character shows who you are and also shows that you’re not going to give up. Yeah. To Cerner and a good thing. Yeah. So, so, so really, you know, as a father to my, to my son is that, you know what my job is to be there for you not to babysit you. Cause we’re not doing that because you know, you are
2 (8m 31s):
All right. That’s all right. Take care of myself, take care.
1 (8m 36s):
You’re doing an excellent job. I mean, from, from where you came to, where you are now, I mean dealing with the ADHD. I mean, again, again, hopefully you are encouraging a young man, especially out there who says, you know what? I feel like giving up, you know, he’s, he’s discouraged about the cops. He’s discouraged about lives and scared about dating and, and hopefully you are encouraging somebody to say, you know what, no matter what people say you do do your drink.
1 (9m 5s):
Yeah. Okay. And watching people do their dream, you think,
2 (9m 10s):
Honestly, it’s more like do, do what makes you happy? Because that’s ultimately as long as what you’re doing, isn’t hurting anybody. And like it’s not destructive, like do what you want to see our life for like someone who don’t know. But like I went through the school system, school system. Isn’t always great. Yeah. Well it’s like, it’s that? And it’s like many stories. So I’m just keep it brief.
1 (9m 35s):
He has a receipt. Okay. He’s being very monitored. This young man has gone through so much. And for him to be his right mind, very articulate. As you can see, very smart. You’ve done a lot. <inaudible>
2 (9m 50s):
Here’s like, here’s the thing, right? When you’re different in school, especially if your dad’s a pastor, people, people just mess with you. Yes. Because yeah. And so like I went to a mostly white school and they would like call you names like black trash can and all the other stuff, like there were kids, like when I skipped a day, they’d be like, man, we were so happy that you weren’t here yesterday. Like yo there,
1 (10m 14s):
Okay. Brutal side note, many stories that you went through, you probably have know.
2 (10m 18s):
Yeah. There’s probably a lot of things that I forgot and yeah. It was just come it’s like, for me, I always like, actually I barely remember those days. It’s kinda crazy. Cause it’s like kind of like a blur. Yeah. Like for them to say that to you though, that you didn’t come to school today. That’s true. Yeah. And it’s like, I got into fights with people too. Specially like in middle school I got into a lot of fights. Yeah.
1 (10m 49s):
I used to come down to school every now and then bail you out of them or whatever. But the thing about it, you know, they were very racist kid
2 (10m 56s):
Racists. They were, some of them were racist and some of them were just like, just assholes.
1 (11m 1s):
You mentioned a question that’s too.
2 (11m 7s):
I think there needs to be a source.
1 (11m 8s):
The difference between racist and ignorant
2 (11m 11s):
Eight Aaron’s.
1 (11m 13s):
So you think all races kids are, are racist or also on the just ignorance.
2 (11m 19s):
It’s like, okay, racist. It’s really intentional. Cause people just come up to your face. Like in Boston, there were some, there was some dudes that were just like, just throw the N word, like out there. Like it’s like, like there are real as hood dudes. I was just like, who are you, sir? Like, it’s, it’s kind of jarring. I like how loosely some of these people do. Wow. Yeah. It was like, one of the dudes was my roommate and he was just, he was like my roommate’s friend. And he just like threw it out there, like in a way that was like, he was like, I’m half black.
2 (11m 55s):
And I’m like, what is it? No. I was like, Oh, you’re Aflac. Okay, sure. Oh, I get it. So, cause he’s half black. He didn’t use the word. Yeah. It’s like, wow, it’s a new one. I’ve never heard that one before. So because he said he was half black, he would use it. But yeah. Look how black at all. No, no, no, no. I, you sure he wasn’t you. Okay. So there are certain features that even the lightest skin of white people have.
2 (12m 25s):
Right. But like it, even if it wasn’t that and if he was, he should have had some sort of like realization or that it doesn’t matter. You just knew he didn’t like me and you just want to get a rise out of me. That’s like, that’s the truth. And like, for me, I’m going to graduate this college. I don’t really care if you have an issue with me, like take it up with me or not because yeah. It doesn’t matter to me. So, so do you think the white racist kids that you went through in high school, middle school and college, are they just ignorant or they just David.
2 (13m 2s):
They were taught that. I mean, what do you think? Cause to be honest, I haven’t seen that. Blondness yeah. I’m much older, but for kids your age, I mean, are they ignorant or they just racist? I just both, to be honest, I think people out there just don’t care. Okay. Like, I don’t know if anyone has ever read a song of ice and fire. It’s like a song, like the game of Thrones books, the bugs. But there is a part where some of you remember when Sansa got hit by the guard.
2 (13m 35s):
I think his name is sir ilium in the book and in the show they didn’t go over it. But in the books they were just like, when he hit me, it wasn’t that he wanted to it’s just that he didn’t care. It just, it didn’t like, it’s just part of what his job is. That’s how I feel like racism is for those sorts of just don’t care. They just don’t care. They don’t really put any thought into it. I think sometimes those people they’ve been brainwashed. Like there are some others who they don’t really care.
2 (14m 6s):
They see like, Oh, I’m being exalted up, showed me, show everyone how much better I am. But everyone else I tell you is, is it that your generation has a don’t care attitude that they don’t care how they deal with you. They just deal with you. And don’t care. I’d say the generation in a little way back. Because like, you know, you see like six, nine and all that other stuff. Like, you know, that’s a good point. Yeah. Like sometimes I feel like people just want to be famous for anything.
2 (14m 40s):
Just a good clout. That’s what they call it. Well, he don’t know. He don’t know. So, so then you said a while ago you said the women, someone
1 (14m 52s):
Another for relationship, therefore a transaction.
2 (14m 57s):
Wow.
1 (14m 58s):
So I mean, so how do you encourage a young man out there? That’s like you striving, who’s trying to be the good guy and you know, all these issues coming out of them,
2 (15m 8s):
Focus on self improvement then like, yeah, I get better. Like at least make sure that the things that they’re saying to you aren’t true. And like also to any other women or anybody else out there. Yeah. Don’t eat no matter what people say about you make sure that what they’re saying is a true.
1 (15m 29s):
Yeah, sure. Yeah. Yeah. Matter of fact, something that I heard a long time ago is that even if someone lies to you lies about you find the kernel of truth in it and grow from it. And I can definitely see the reason why you’re strong today is that you’ve gone through a lot of diversity and you still standing in you’re you’re you haven’t given up on life. You, you, you somehow you have a new contract came in the day. I mean, so, so, so to me, it’s like, you didn’t take what the world gave you say, all right, I got this issue.
1 (16m 4s):
I’m going to become better. I’m going to self-improve and that’s why you learn so many languages. And I think, and they didn’t provide them wrong. I think the reason why you learn something, I’m just cause somebody told you, you couldn’t. So you said yourself.
2 (16m 15s):
Yeah, I will. Yeah. I’m kinda like indignant like that. And honestly, I just, I do what I want. I’ve always had a thirst to learn. Oh, I love learning. And whether it be history. Yeah. I do history too. I love history. I’m learning about Chinese history has been one of the most fun. Right?
1 (16m 36s):
Give me some, give me something about your and your
2 (16m 38s):
No.
1 (16m 41s):
Cause I try and sensory is very anxious. Very complex
2 (16m 44s):
Is essentially there are six parts of China or that could be wrong about theirs are honestly more, but they’ve been warring for centuries. Yeah. And dynasties. And like, I can’t give you a certain part in Chinese history to look at. But you know, after this I’ll show you some videos because they’re like, I like to listen to you tubers. She’ll talk about the Ming dynasty. They’ll talk about the famine during, I think it was 1940s. The, I forget the name of it. Maui now famine and all that stuff.
2 (17m 17s):
It’s like how all that stuff led into those things and how China is such like, no matter who conquers China, China count like it has. So the, how do I say this? The culture is so rich there. They, they might’ve just, you get conquered by Toronto. You get sucked into the tradition of Chinese tourists.
1 (17m 39s):
So can we say economically China has conquered America. Cause everything’s made in China,
2 (17m 46s):
I’d say they’ve taken advantage of bar production. And generally a lot of how do I say because there’s they integrate it with tech a lot easier. Like they really embraced it. Like it’s
1 (17m 60s):
They’re government. So they embrace it quicker than we did in America. So that’s why they are,
2 (18m 5s):
It’s why they’re ahead. Like for instance, do you know, they don’t have a social security card. Their social security card is on there. Like their member number is something that’s generated digitally. That’s something that we could have a digital number for everybody.
1 (18m 21s):
You know what I mean? Social security number. No, there’s no, there’s a car that they have. Yeah.
2 (18m 25s):
Yeah. They have a card that has all their information and that’s, that’s pretty much what they get and it’s all on a server. And I know that sounds scary for a lot of people because no one wants to be identified, but the truth is, think of it like this. It doesn’t matter if it’s on a piece of paper or a hard drive. It’s still being recorded somehow. Yeah. It’s it’s still getting recorded. Wow. That’s that’s, that’s pretty impressive.
1 (18m 52s):
So I mean, I mean the, the, the landscape that you see, I mean, it’s definitely changing. And also I think also there’s a lot of fear in the land shows where people are fearful about the election, fearful about issues. <inaudible> I mean, so, so how do you deal with all the conspiracy theories and the fear? I mean, how do you
2 (19m 15s):
Real talk? Don’t listen to conspiracy theories, like honest to truth. It’s funny, like how all these conspiracies come out about like, you know, very mass cause and all that stuff, but there’s no conspiracy. Talk about like how, you know, we use segregation to keep black people down.
1 (19m 34s):
Oh, he went there and the ball. No, but like, I’m not trying to.
2 (19m 39s):
Yeah. But no one talks about that. Conspiracy. A lot of people don’t even know that like the government seriously distributed cocaine to some people it’s not like direct, like you can’t prove it, but so I’m not going to be like, Oh, the government did this, but there were some talks like Rick Ross is one of the biggest guys. Yeah. He was, no, he’s not a rapper. The real guy actually sold cocaine back in the day. That’s who his name is based off of.
2 (20m 11s):
And yeah. But he got his cocaine to make crack somewhere. We don’t know where, and I’m like not trying to spread conspiracy theories, but just realize how that sound well. Yeah. But like that’s
1 (20m 22s):
Well, to me though, I mean, you know, the African American community didn’t have the distribution, didn’t have the labs to try to stuff from cocaine to crack. So where did I come from? So that, so I think that backs up that conspiracy, but,
2 (20m 37s):
But like, you know, it’s just generally speaking, right? The war on drugs, it hurt a lot of African American communities. And we see this over, over again through time of how the government has made certain programs through a process. But no one wants to talk about that conspiracy, but we’ll talk about, Oh, how the masks on the, on the master, like control of your mind or five G’s vested with your mind, giving you a cookie
1 (21m 7s):
Five G to me. Cause I, I I’ve heard that many times.
2 (21m 10s):
It’s ridiculous. It’s just wireless. It’s all it is. It’s not, it can’t give you away. It’s a care. Give you the coronavirus and that, that stuff.
1 (21m 20s):
So where does we get these cause purges wrong? Like none of do that.
2 (21m 25s):
Yeah. This is fake news. Yeah.
1 (21m 29s):
So really, you know, it’s a, you know, when it comes to history and I think you learn enough from me is that I love history. Matter of fact, I’m working on my book about African American history, about how there’s so many things were done to control that from America. You know, I’m not racist. I just love history. And chances is truth 1877. A lot of people don’t know about 1877. The compromise of 1877 said that the, the Southern Democrats would let Ruth B. Hayes, which was the eight 19 president.
1 (22m 5s):
He will be present after a grant. If they took the soldiers out of the South where people forget the after civil war, the union forces occupied the South occupied the South. And so up until Ruth B. Hayes, I can look back up. So you, Lisa does grant. He was a general for Abraham Lincoln. He became the president. So he still maintained that military presence.
1 (22m 36s):
So when he lost well, when, when he didn’t want again, Ruth behaves came in and he said, listen, if I, if I win Southern Democrats, please vote me in. And I’ll take out the, the union army from the South when they did that. That’s when the colored only, and the white only area in restaurants, I did not know that history. Wow. That was a compromise of 1877. So, so again, we can learn from history because
2 (23m 4s):
We don’t have to finish it. Yeah.
1 (23m 7s):
You learn history, you will do it again. So, so even with your history, you know, I just asked your father, you know, you’ve done some great things. So that tells me, you know, history is so let me grade something because you’ve, you’ve overcome a lot of things. I mean, your ADHD again, maybe didn’t hear the first broadcast, but he wasn’t diagnosed. He was not diagnosed with ADHD until his senior year in college. Yeah.
2 (23m 32s):
That, that, that, that
1 (23m 35s):
Did, did you go to the, the school pharmacy? How did you know you had it?
2 (23m 41s):
So my friend had casually joked about it. Got it. Yeah. He, he was just like, you might have ADHD, man. You can’t focus. Cause I was what would happen? I’d be in my, okay. I always have the ability to study. Like I would be in my room studying for hours. It’s just like, I couldn’t grab anything. Cause I couldn’t focus when I was doing, but I went to the doctor, they referred me to a psych psychiatrist. She was just like, yeah, you do give me some medication. And then it’s just like, I passed the class like that.
2 (24m 13s):
Wow. Like that it was, I didn’t have to try. It was pretty easy.
1 (24m 17s):
Oh. So, so I can only imagine how difficult it was for you those first.
2 (24m 21s):
Yeah. Those first few years it was hard because here’s the thing. Right. Not everyone knew I had ADHD and like, yeah. And here’s the other thing people would do in class. They would like laugh at me a lot because the teacher would say something and that’d be like, what does this mean? But because no one knew I was paying attention. They’d all laugh. And be like, she just said that. And then they would go over it again because, but like by that time I’m already nervous and I missed what she said again. And so that’s like part of like the struggle of having ADHD and yeah.
1 (24m 54s):
Alright Tim, you have a great, great story. If they, if any educators out there that want to have my son talk about his ADHD to be an inspiration to others. Definitely because you, you really went through the side. I mean, you really, and I have a form of ADHD in that. I’m sorry, you got it from me. So, so, so my form of ADHD is that I will, I read a lot of books as you know.
1 (25m 25s):
So a lot of times I will say if I hit eraser, but I’ll type something totally different. And I text them some toys. So, so, so off in my head, I’ll say racer, and then I’ll type black and so on. Unless I go back over it. Ah, I miss it. So, so you got it from your son, mom.
2 (25m 51s):
It’s how you, it’s how it start about the having it. It’s about how to cope with it. Coping strategy.
1 (25m 59s):
And you have cope. Well, son, you have done a great job. So at time is almost up. Tell me how you feel about coming and we’ll definitely have you come back again,
2 (26m 9s):
Carrie. Woo. You all see me again? And everyone
1 (26m 14s):
I’ll do a filter next time though. Okay. Just to get, just to get, so tell me how you felt about coming com.
2 (26m 21s):
It was fun. I’m glad we came. We got some people that watch. So like it’s all good. I loved it.
1 (26m 27s):
Okay. And again, let’s go through your tags. So this is your
2 (26m 32s):
I’m at the company dream. It’s on Twitter, right? Yeah. On Twitter. It’s called ox D King or ox King among there. That’s where I usually do my, you know, gaming. You’ll learn about tech. I do that, all that other stuff. Okay. Next one. That is my website T Brantley. I adopt me currently. We don’t have the contact form working, but once I get all those little things working, there’s going to be more to that site. So look for that. Okay. Next. And that is where you can ask me anything, get set up consultations.

But yeah, you can send me emails and we’ll, I’ll hook you up, whatever you need. So thanks for coming. Of course. And love you. Love you too. Pop love you much. And I’ll see you this Saturday for my wedding. Okay. See you Saturday. And, and he came just a mob dance, dance, like crazy.
2 (27m 35s):
